Whack Your Boss is a short, silly way to let off steam, and Basket Random belongs in the same category. It is a 2D basketball game from RHM Interactive where two ragdoll players on each side flail toward the hoop, and you control them with a single key. Nobody looks graceful, and a lot of points come from lucky bounces.

The whole control scheme

On the left team you press W. On the right team you press the Up arrow. That one input makes your two players jump and swing their long arms forward. If the ball is in reach, they catch it; if they are already holding it, the swing throws it. There is no separate shoot or pass button, so the skill is entirely in timing and in how long you press.

The game listens to the keyboard only after you click inside it once, so do that before the opening tip-off.

Every basket changes the game

Basket Random reshuffles the setup after each score. You might get a different court surface, players with oversized heads or stretched arms, or a different ball. Strategies that worked a moment ago stop working, which keeps a first-to-five match unpredictable to the end.

Solo or with a friend

In 1 Player mode the CPU controls the other team, which is a fair way to learn. In 2 Player mode two people share one keyboard, sitting on opposite ends of it. Matches are short, so it is easy to play best of three.

Small things that win points

1. Tap, do not hold. A long press tips your players over and leaves them lying on the floor.
2. Jump late on loose balls. The team that jumps second often catches the ball on the way down.
3. Get under the hoop. Close rebounds and dunks go in more reliably than long throws.
4. Watch the new setup. Take a second at the start of each point to see what changed before you press anything.

Runs anywhere

Basket Random is HTML5, so there is nothing to install. It works in desktop and Chromebook browsers and on touch devices, and one game takes only a couple of minutes.
